Fern shook his head,
"I don't, actually. It just doesn't really go down well, it makes me feel sick. I also can't hold my liquor at all."
He smiled and picked up his menu, scanning it. He almost choked when he saw the prices listed.
"Y-you can afford this?"

"Don't look at prices, pick what you like," Antony said with a smile. If the other wasn't going to drink then he wasn't going to get a full bottle of wine, "A glass of Finca Los Arroyos Syrah," he said with a smile as he flipped the page over that had the wines offered. It was an Argentinean wine, one he had had a couple times before. Berries mixed with the hint of vanilla and caramel...and it went very well with what he was planning to have for his dinner.
He looked to Fern again, "What would you like to drink?" he questioned.

Fern was completely intimidated already by just the menu. The prices.. the prices! He could rent his apartment for a year on just one meal. There were so many fancy things listed under drinks, it was making his head spin.
"Um, I'll just have some... lemon water."

The waiter nodded and retreated, Antony closed his own menu for he had already focused on what he wanted to eat. "You said you were vegetarian...before?" he was referring to their last meeting. "Why?" he questioned curiously, wondering if it was for health, economic, ethical or religious reasons. He accepted whatever the reason was...as long as it was educated and not imposed on him, he just wanted to know the other's story. The things about him that made him unique.

Fern set down the menu, having decided what he wanted to eat as well. He folded his hands in his lap and smiled,
"Well, meat is too expensive, I can't really afford it... and... I just really like animals and I just feel uncomfortable with the fact that I'm eating something that had a family. I don't know, maybe it sounds stupid, but that's just how I feel."

Antony nodded, "If you believe something, then it is the truth." He believed that humans were born omnivores...built to eat meat, so he did. It was as simple as that. "They have pasta..." he pointed out, "Do you just avoid meat...or products derived from animals as well?" He was referring to milk and eggs, things that didn't actually kill the animal. Would that fall under the other's list of things he did not eat? It was a curious notion, there were so many kinds of vegetarians. So many choices.

Fern shook his head,
"Oh, no, I'll still eat animal products. As long as the animal wasn't killed for it to be made. Ahh, yes, they have pasta, but I've decided on the Portobello steaks. Large mushrooms instead of actual meat. Delicious. What are you having?"

"Convenient," Antony said with a smile, "I was planning on steak myself."
The waiter returned with the lemon water and the goblet of wine, placed them in front of them and looked to them, waiting for their orders. "Steak, medium rare," Antony said, passing over the menu, with the potatoes and the almond steamed vegetables. The waiter nodded, accepted the menu and looked to Fern.

Fern turned to the waiter,
"A garden salad and the Portobello steaks."
He leant back in his seat, crossing his arms lightly over his chest.
"Mmmm, this is such a nice place."

"It can be a little stuffy sometimes..." Antony admitted, "But on nights like this...you get a wider range."
He looked over, out through the window and towards the park...brilliantly lit by small lamps that lined the pathways. Beautiful, it always was, no matter what the time of day was. He sighed happily and looked back to Fern, "Tell me about yourself," he said calmly, "Whatever you are willing to disclose."

Fern smiled, "Well, I've never been anywhere like this, so it's a nice experience. Thanks again."
He lapsed into silence for a moment, wondering what he safely tell Antony. He would have to steer clear from anything that could compromise his situation... basically any cyborg talk. He figured his family was safe enough, as long as he told some white lies.
"Well, I've been a bit... sickly my entire life. I was born with a weak heart, so I can't exert myself much and have low blood pressure. I guess you've noticed how pale I am, I'm also just as weak to match that. I can't carry very heavy things, etc. Carrying orders at the tea shop is just about my limit, like heavy teapots... I'm sort of useless that way. So, yes, basically, I'm a very frail person... which is a bit frustrating. I get tired very easily so I sleep alot as well."

Antony nodded his head in silence, with a gentle smile on his lips. As if encouraging the other to continue because he was completely attentive. The frailty bit...he had almost expected it with how petite the other's frame was. He was pale as well but that wasn't a negative thing. Being pale used to be revered as a desirable attribute...because it meant one was rich enough to stay inside all day while the poor slaved in the sun. Nowadays, it seemed that being dark was more desired by the public.
"Does it hurt?" he asked, wondering if the other was hurt when he tried to do more difficult tasks.

Truthfully, yes, it did hurt. He got pains in his heart at least once a week, but saying this would make it seem he needed medical attention, which was something he wanted to avoid completely. He had already gotten medical attention... and much good that did. He faked a smile, hoping it would look genuine,
"Oh, no. Not at all. I just get tired, that's all. Or, say, if I'm carrying something too heavy for me, I'll just end up dropping it. Which is never good, so the shop owner will always step in and help if I need to carry heavy things. I've gotten a bit better as I've gotten older though, I can run a little bit now... So maybe I'll continue getting better."
This was also a lie. He wasn't going to get better, he had actually probably gotten a bit worse, considering the pains, now he had a metal heart. But he wasn't about to admit that.

"That's good..." Antony replied, believing the other completely. He wasn't a suspicious or untrustworthy person, if someone told him something he took it as the truth. Why would they lie to him? He wasn't someone often lied to, he seemed to be the kind of person that invited the truth. People gave it to him without question, without trying to hide it. So why go around doubting people.
"What else is there to know about you?" he asked, "Beyond physical...abnormalities?"

Fern gave a sigh of relief, inwardly. Thank goodness Antony had believed him, or at least was pretending to. He couldn't really think of anything interesting about himself.
"Hmm... not really. I work in a tea shop, I really enjoy tea, I left my family home a year ago to go see the world, or well, this city. I lived a boring life out in the countryside. I have a mother and a father, and.. they love me. I like animals, especially birds. I have a pet bird, a little yellow canary, named Ira, which means 'watchful'... and he is. And uh... yes. That's basically it."
He gave a little laugh, feeling a bit foolish for just listing things, but really, he couldn't think of any other way.
"So then, lets hear about you?"
